This course gives the candidates the basic introduction to the various electrical schematics systems fitted to Rolling Stock units. The course covers, where relevant: battery and lighting control; cab occupied circuits; power circuits and HSCB/VCB control; emergency braking circuits; and pantograph control.

On successful completion of the course the trainee will, in accordance with Rolling Stock guidelines, be able to:

• Operate correctly the main systems on the relevant units
• Identify and state the purpose of the main components of the various systems
• Read schematic drawings associated with the various components
• Demonstrate their ability in fault finding techniques on the various systems.
